Seaweed Cleansing Soap by Mario Badescu Review

The first time I laid eyes on a bottle of Mario Badescu Seaweed Cleansing Soap I got hungry. I guess I should have eaten lunch before I started playing with it. You can't blame me, it looks so much like a creamy sauce with bits of healthy herbs that would go well over a nice plate of whole wheat spaghetti.

Okay, I'll stop grossing you out.

This seaweed cleansing soap however is not going to my thumbs down department. When seaweed was first discovered to be a natural treasure chest for beautiful skin, Mario Badescu's skin beauty lab started work immediately. A few years down the line they have successfully perfected their own seaweed based cleansing soap that has been heavily praised by fashion and beauty magazines.

It's no big secret amongst my friends and family that I am a big fan of Mario Badescu's products. So you might think my reviews are biased. Not true. There are MB products that I don't like and I only believe in reviewing products that I think everyone should know about and try.

I first started using this seaweed cleanser when it was first came out. But for many years I have had experience with seaweed skin care in my mother's spa. I'm pretty sure you've heard of seaweed skin wraps which is very popular with mom's customers.

First off, I have combination skin that is very prone to breakouts, especially around my forehead area. The first week I noticed my skin was cleaner yet not dry. This in itself is not exceptional since a Neutrogena product I use yield the same results. However what I do like is that it is extremely gentle. I get thoroughly put off when I try a cleanser that is so harsh it strips every oil off my face, which is a no no. What usually results when that happens is dry flaky skin. I also really like the fragrance as well, kind of wakes me up in the morning.

A couple of my best friends have the same positive results as I did and we and we all have different skin combinations. One of my friends who have used seaweed type products mentioned to me that MB's seaweed cleanser does not leave a greasy film. After all seaweed is slimy when wet. Which I gather is a good sign.

The soap is very thick and sometimes a little bit hard to squeeze out of the bottle when a rather large piece of seaweed gets stuck in the spout.

I really do like this seaweed cleansing soap. Seaweed is very beneficial to our skin and not just good on sushi.

This seaweed cleansing soap is available in two bottle sizes 8oz. ($12.00) and 16 oz. ($20.00). MB prices are way better than the other seaweed products with over the top fancy packaging and probably more effective.

I have been using this soap for 4 months so far and I'm sticking with it because it provides me with consistent results. You should use this in combination with Mario Badescu's Buffering Lotion and Drying Lotion for a very effective acne treatment and prevention regimen. I highly recommend this product, two thumbs up!
